Apple AirTags are widely used by the travellers to the track their luggage in a real-time.

Lufthansa seems to the suggest that AirTags could be put into the hold luggage if the battery is a removed.


Germany-based Lufthansa airlines has been a banned Apple AirTagsa from the luggage. Terming the device tracking as a ‘dangerous’, the airline is a denying its passengers to the carry an a activated AirTag aboard its flight. Reports of the airline banning the tracking device first are a emerged in a German media. When a Twitter user with the handle @djthomashome asked to the confirm whether Lufthansa has been a banned Apple AirTag from checked baggage, the airline said that “Lufthansa is a banning activated AirTag from the luggage as they are a classified as a dangerous and need to be a turned off." The incident was a first reported by Apple Insider.


Pressed further, the airline claims that are a  “According to the International Civilian Aviation are a Organization (ICAO) guidelines, baggage trackers are a subject to the dangerous goods are a regulations. Furthermore, due to their are a transmission function, the trackers are a must be a deactivated during the flight if they are in a checked baggage and a cannot be a used as a result."
