Dhadak movie review & Reting - Janhvi Kapoor-Ishaan Khatter film

Director Shashank Khaitan knows India’s heartland. His previous two outings — 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' (2014) and 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' (2017) — that had the desi mitti ki khushboo (smell of real India) and of course, a little sauciness, were super-successes. While one must remember that the Dulhania series also had the magical jodi of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, one cannot take it away from Shashank.

Here, he cleverly borrows the template of his previous movie outings. The first half is breezy, with situations that amply allow for small-town humour and sentiments. And, then you have the magnetic attraction between Ishaan and Janhvi that is predictable yet magical. Cinematographer Vishnu Rao likes his canvas warm and colourful. He also captures the young actors flatteringly. Add to this, two tracks inspired from Sairat by the inimitable Ajay-Atul, and at intermission point, you are merrily doing a Zingaat.

The second half, however, drags for a bit. Since the young couple is confused, penniless and groping to find new meaning, the pace dips. But this is also the half when you get to witness what fine mettle both Janhvi and Ishaan are made of. They display a gamut of emotions — love, pathos, angst and anger wonderfully.

The nice thing about Dhadak is that it neither overwhelms nor underwhelms you. It pushes all the right buttons and when you leave the theatre, you are satisfied. The climax (which we can’t reveal) is short yet spellbinding.

Of course, the real reason to see this film are the two young actors. Janhvi is a chip off the old block, Sridevi. Though she has miles to go before she sweeps every award there is, for now, she can be secure in the knowledge that she has a bright future. Kudos to Karan Johar for launching her.

As for Ishaan, well, he was terrific in 'Beyond The Clouds'. And here, he notches up yet another superb performance, making room for himself amongst B-Town’s most-promising actors.

Taarak MeTaarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma's Dr Hansraj Hathi aka Kavi Kumar Azaad passes away

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma fame Dr Hathi passed away on Monday morning due to a cardiac arrest. Show's producer Asit Kumarr Modi confirmed the news.

Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma fame Dr. Hathi, aka Kavi Kumar Azad is no more. The actor passed away on Monday morning, July 9, due to a cardiac arrest. Early reports suggest that Kavi Kumar was reportedly unwell and was admitted at Wockhardt Hospital at Mira Road in Mumbai. Confirming the news, Show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi said in a statement that they are very sad to inform the loss of the senior actor. Calling him an amazing actor and a very positive person, Asit Kumarr stated that Kavi Kumar loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he wasn’t feeling well. 

Speaking about the unfortunate incident, he added that Kavi Kumar Azad had called in the morning to inform that he is not feeling well and will not be able to come for the shoot today. However, they later got the news that the actor is no more. Kavi Kumar’s spokesperson stated the actor spoke to the producer of the show in the morning to inform him that he will unwell and will not be able to come for the shoot. He further added that Kavi Kumar was unwell for days but he was still reporting on sets.

Known for his incredible comic timing in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, Dr Hathi aka Kavi Kumar Azad had also starred in films like Mela and Funtoosh.

7:35 pm: Actor Dilip Joshi, who plays the central role in TV show says that he is shocked by the news of Dr Haathi aka Kavi Kumar Azad’s death. 

7:00 pm: Asit Kumar Modi, show’s promoter, posted an emotional message on his Twitter saying that Dr Hathi of his Taarak Mehta family is no more. Hathi has left us and this is not a right thing. he said, “Yeh sahi baat nahi hai”.

3:30 pm: Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma fame Mr Bhide aka Mandar Chandwadkar gets teary-eyed at Kavi Kumar’s sudden demise. In an interaction with Spotboye, Mandar Chandwadkar stated that it is such a shocking news. Speaking about the same, he said that the entire cast was supposed to shoot for a sequence today in Filmcity, Mumbai. But today morning, they all came to know that Kavi Kumar is unwell so they decided to let him rest and go ahead with the scene.  While talking about Kavi Kumar, the actor got teary-eyed and said that he was such a happy go lucky man and he cannot believe that his co-actor is no more.
